3: answers. Today we're gonna talk about the dreaded "Where you see yourself in five

7: years?" question. We're gonna look at it from every angle and discover what

11: employers or really asking.

13: That's coming up!

19: Hey, guys! I'm Kim with Snagajob and welcome to our weekly job search show.

26: a little fashion advice. This week we're gonna be tackling the dreaded "Where do

30: you see yourself in five years?" question.

32: A lot of you have been asking us about this. You're not sure how to answer it

35: and a lot of employers do ask this in interviews so there's a good

39: chance you're going to see this along the way.

41: So we're gonna give you a couple tips to make you more confident when this comes along.

45: Okay, let's face it. This question is hard and there's really no getting around that.

49: "What?! Are you serious?! I don't even know what I want for dinner tonight! How am I

53: expected to know where i'm going to be in five years?! ... What do I want for dinner tonight?"

57: Now remember,

58: hiring managers cannot predict the future and they don't expect you to either.

62: What they really want to know is, are you worth the time and money it's

66: going to take the to hire you. It takes a lot of time and money to hire an employee.

70: Really, it's an investment.

72: So if you answer... "Dude, you haven't heard of our band. We're gonna be totally

76: touring the country by then."

79: Then they'll know that you're not really looking fora place to learn and grow.

82: You're just looking for something to hold you over until your real plan takes

85: off.

86: "I don't know! I just want to be making money."

88: "Definitely running my own business."

90: "Eh...

91: I don't really like thinking that far into the future. It makes my brain hurt."

95: "Definitely running my own music label."

99: So the best way to answer this question is to pick a few professional goals

103: that you really have and go from there.

105: "I'm really looking forward to putting my customer service skills to use in a

108: fast-paced, challenging environment.

111: The restaurant industry is somewhere where I'd like to develop my career, which is why i think

114: this position is a great fit."

116: So that was a great answer because; one, you mentioned your skills: the

120: strengths that you have;

122: two, you talked about the industry as a whole and that your interested in investing

125: your future in that;

127: three, you tell them that you're up for a challenge so they know they know you're going to be a really

130: good worker;

131: and four, you mentioned the position specifically so they understand that

134: you're really interested in what they have to offer.

137: Now, interviewing can cause a lot of anxiety. We know this. We've all gone through this. But if
