0: Buzzwords or buzz phrases, such as I'm a good team player, I enjoy a challenge, I
4: work well under pressure, I'm good on Excel, don't really work. Everyone uses
9: them and they don't differentiate you. So, what we're going to look at today is how
13: to really make your personal statement stand out.
31: Hi everyone, welcome to Career Hacks, we'll be looking into our top tips and career
35: advice to help you in your job search. My name is Jordan from Michael Page
39: technology. We're looking into the personal statement. This is very critical
44: to get right. It's the first thing that any employer or recruiting agency will
49: look at so it's critical you deliver the first message to them about who you are
54: as a professional. The first couple of sentences give them just a really great
61: overview of your personal experience. I've worked in this industry for X
66: amount of years, I specialise within these industries, I
70: have an inclination towards this type of job role. Then underneath that, I'd give
74: hard facts about how long you've had in an industry, how many promotions you've had,
79: how many projects you've delivered, how many accounts you've consolidated.
82: Whatever it is specifically to you, you need to get that in there. If you're new
89: to your career, I know this can be quite difficult to really put down. But think
94: about the job you're applying to, think about the company that you're applying
97: to. Put something in specifically that you've done whether that be inside of
102: work or outside that relates to them, that relates to that job. For example if
108: you're applying to a sports agency then you need to put I'm an avid sports
113: player. Whatever it may be, put it in that's specifically tailored to you and that
118: business. That's a really short tip but I hope it helps. Good luck in your job
122: search and take care.
