11: software engineering. My name is Sagnik Nandy and I am a distinguished engineer.

15: Over the years I have fooled enough people to think I'm somewhat

19: distinguishable. my name is Elmer Garduno and I work in

24: software engineering Cloud machine learning. In my current role, we write

27: software to make machine learning accessible to people everywhere. Being a

31: software engineer, a good part of it is writing software, another good part of it

35: is finding out the right solution for a problem. And of course writing code. It's

39: a computer engineer's dream to build systems that work for billions of users.

44: I feel energetic every day coming to work because there's exciting stuff going

50: on all the time. There's a series of tools that Google has built that

54: streamline this whole process of software development, writing code, for

57: getting your code reviewed by your fellow software engineers, and then once

62: you finish writing code you have to deploy your code into production. Our

65: main challenges are in creating great user experiences, not just software that

70: works but experiences that work for users.

72: It's an honor and a privilege to

74: work with a team that is really high functioning.

79: who make work fun, so people are always joking, people are playing fun pranks on

83: each other.

85: One of the things that I did quite some time ago was put a whole

88: bunch of flamingos on the dinosaur sculpture, so I'm always particularly

92: proud whenever I see the pictures show up on the Internet of the dinosaur

96: sculpture covered in pink flamingos.

100: We're always innovating in new areas.

102: We're always kind of asking ourselves

103: the question of what's the most important thing,

104: what's the most interesting thing

106: that you could do next? How do we make a story that's even

110: better than the one that we have today?

112: You get to build these things that are exciting.

115: You can see the end results of what you build right away.

118: It's just magic.

120: And there's no limit to the size of problems that we can tackle. The limit

124: is really just our imagination and our ability to execute on it.
